About the event
- Are you ready to improve your physical and mental well-being?
- Do you want to understand and overcome habitual patterns in your life?
- Are you up for challenging the way you feel about your body and how it looks?
We invite you to join a clothing-optional, male-identifying community for a 7-day retreat experience of wellness at Finca Sa Garriga Darder on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. This experience will bring together the very best elements of yoga and mediation, mind and body coaching and empowering, open dialogue all set in a beautiful and private location surrounded by nature.
Who this retreat is for:
This retreat is for men and those who identify as men who are interested and eager to discover more about themselves in a safe, non-judgemental environment through honest and open conversation, personal reflection and the practice of yoga and meditation.
This retreat has been thoughtfully designed and is the perfect opportunity for you to:
- Improve your physical health, mental well-being and overall performance as a conscious human being.
- Learn more about yourself and the connection between your body and your mind and the impact this has on self-confidence.
- Identify and overcome unsupportive, repetitive patterns that limit you, your body and your life
- Take time out from your daily existence to reflect and connect with other men on their own journey
It’s no problem if you haven’t done yoga or meditation before, or if you’re a newbie to men’s retreats - everyone is welcome at this fantastic and accessible event.
What can I expect?
Our time together will be a combination of discussion and dialogue, where the very best of mind and body coaching techniques and the philosophy and practices of yoga are combined in engaging, thoughtful and fun ways; daily sessions of physical yoga and meditation, shared mealtimes and plenty of space and time to relax or explore the beautiful island of Mallorca.
Throughout this retreat we will explore the theme of ‘breaking patterns’; patterns, both physical and mental, that we all have in life and that can shape our experience of being here within this world and the relationships that we have with others.
We invite you to explore this theme and how the concept of habitual patterns ring true within your own experience and where our patterns can perhaps manifest as blockages in your life or a sense of feeling stuck.
Each day, this exploration will take the form of lively and uplifting workshops and discussions where the practical application of modern coaching techniques and the ancient science of yoga are seamlessly combined and are offered in a way that is meaningful, engaging, thought provoking and fun.
Why Is Clothing Optional?
This retreat is offered as a clothing optional retreat to men who enjoy participating in social nudity and as a way of deepening our understanding of ourselves, the world around us, and our own place within that world.
Without the physical barrier of clothing, it is much easier to connect with that sense of self as we can more easily put aside the mental shield we all have in our daily lives. We're all on the same level and there is no judgement about who we are by the outward signs we choose to cover ourselves with.
Meditating and practising yoga whilst naked as a member of a group of other naked men, alongside offering ourselves wholeheartedly in discussions about the challenges we all face, is a life-affirming and deeply liberating experience for all involved.
Whilst discussions will be had relating to the theme of ‘breaking patterns’ within our ideas of sex and sexuality, this is a non-sexual retreat and sexual activity will not be explored as part of the schedule.
Who are the Retreat Leaders?
Martin Feaver - Mind and Body Coach & Founder of the MASC Programme:
Martin is a recognised and sought-after Mind and Body Coach and the founder of the MASC (Men & Somatic Connection) Programme. For years, Martin’s biggest issues were related to being gay, his body image and body confidence. He often didn’t know who he was and where he fitted in.
Issues around body confidence meant taking his shirt off in public was torture. He could feel great about his body one minute and then worried and ashamed of it the next. There was also the challenge of living up to labels and the expectations of others; of being a man, a son, a partner, an athlete, a student, a lover, a businessman, a success - all the while playing a role and scared of being seen, being himself and being found out that he wasn’t good enough.
After intense periods of personal struggle and questioning, Martin recognised his desire to stop being fearful and made the decision that things had to change.
That was the first step on a remarkable 25-year journey of self-discovery, training and investing in himself that reignited his interest and passion in the significance of the connection of the mind and the body; a journey that has included the study of neurology, coaching, language, nutrition, somatic movement and muscle activation, Thai yoga massage and myofascial release therapy.
Nowadays, through Martin’s work on his unique MASC – Men and Somatic Connection programme, he works with men who want to explore the possibility of living their lives differently. These men are ready to be free of limiting labels and the expectations of others and live a life on their terms; they want to know and be themselves, perform at their best and make a difference to their own lives and the world beyond.
Throughout his career, Martin has been sharing his skills and knowledge to raise awareness of the mind-body connection with individual clients, sportspeople and corporations through workshops, retreats, courses, speaking engagements, magazine articles and television appearances.
Matt - The Bearded Naked Yogi
Matt - The Bearded Naked Yogi is a dedicated practitioner and teacher of Hatha Yoga & Meditation and a spiritual philosopher and guide for our modern age.
Born in the United Kingdom and now living in Spain, Matt teaches globally to a worldwide community of students stretching westward from New Zealand to the west coast of the United States.
Drawing upon a lifetime of study into global theology, eastern spiritual philosophy and the western Mystery traditions, Matt has been active within the international teaching community since 2016.
Matt is passionate that the practice of yoga should not be complicated - he sees yoga as a complete practice of simplicity, honesty and self-understanding. He teaches that the ancient science of yoga is available to everyone, regardless of flexibility or physical strength, and that even the simplest of movements contain profound benefits for our bodies and our minds.
Alongside being a teacher of the physical aspects of Hatha Yoga, Matt is also a fully qualified and dedicated teacher and master practitioner of meditation.
Since completing his training with the Yogi Ashokananda School under the tutelage of Yogi Ashokananda himself, meditation has been part of his daily life. Continual professional development has led Matt to dive deeply into the ancient art of meditation, not just from within the yogic tradition but also the tradition of the Zen Buddhists.
For Matt, meditation is life itself - a pure, uncomplicated, non-judgemental practice of simply being with ourselves in kindness and compassion.
There is a famous quote widely attributed to the Buddha (He never said it, but the sentiment sums up why Matt meditates perfectly!)
"One day, the Buddha was asked: “What have you gained from meditation?”
He replied: “Nothing.”
“However”, Buddha said, “let me tell you what I lost: anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age and death."
Matt’s classes and retreats are firmly rooted within the ancient traditions of yoga and delivered with his friendly, engaging style of teaching combined with his deep understanding of the human condition.
Students return again and again to experience his teachings of yoga as they should be - simple, honest and delivered with a smile.
